Dr Alison Hulme

PhD MA BA

I have 20 years of experience across commercial, academic, and charity sectors and am a published author of several books and government reports. I enjoy projects that require problem solving and innovative thinking.

About Me

I have 20 years experience in research and academia, conducting projects with commercial, academic, and third-sector stakeholders. I am a published author with many books to my name and have written reports for government departments. Some of my past clients include: Imperial War Museum, Department of Work and Pensions, OfCom, House of Lords, Marks and Spencer, Viridian Housing, Prudential.

I am based on the North Norfolk coast and much of my current work is about issues that impact upon the East Anglian region – particularly food security and coastal communities. However, I work remotely with those much further afield and can travel to see clients or do fieldwork if needed.

At heart, I am a qualitative researcher – I love getting out and meeting people and understanding their experiences, attitudes, and behaviour. After all, I have a Masters and a PhD in Anthropology and you can’t take the anthropologist out of the person! That said, I love a good in-depth review of policy or existing reports on a topic, and I’m not at all averse to crunching some stats now and again to come up with compelling narratives based on quantifiable data.

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Member of the Social Research Association. I am also a charity trustee.
