Welcome to AHConsulting. Maybe you are a small business or a new business or charity that does not yet have the money to buy in research from an agency. As far as possible, I work to your budget and scale projects accordingly. Research does not have to be a luxury. I conduct most projects myself, but if it benefits the project, I work closely with trusted freelancers I have known for many years. For example, if the project needs fast analysis of large-scale quantitative data sets, or if you really need some beautiful visualizations of your data to show to funders or clients, I bring in people with expertise in those areas.

Impact and Evaluation

Sometimes it is necessary to prove that your project has been successful, in order to report to stakeholders or perhaps in order to secure future funding. I have training and experience in straight-forward evaluation techniques, but also in wider social impact analysis. For example, what if you know your charity enables people to access something better, but you want to prove how this improves communities or saves government money, or has positive knock-on affects such as reducing crime?

Segmentation

I have worked with companies and organisations who want to understand their users better by spitting them out into different types of user group. Typically, you might find you have 4-6 different types of user, who fall into groups based on factors such as age, lifestage, financial status, or wider attitudes towards life. I can help you understand what factors are defining your user groups and come up with key profiles or ‘characters’ for each one.

Attitudes and Insights

Qualitative work into social or consumer attitudes and insights has been a staple of my career, from large-scale social attitude surveys, to ethnographies with niche groups. I have spent time doing ethnographic work with everyone from pound store consumers, to hoarders; small business owners to eco-tourists; retirees to NEETs.

Policy and literature review

Perhaps you need all recent literature, studies, reports or policy documents to be synthesized in one clear, accessible document that maps the landscape of a given topic area. I have done a large amount of work on such projects over the years and have access to a huge range of databases. I love a deep-dive into a specific area.

Moderation

I am highly experienced in both face-to-face and online moderation. I have moderated over 100 groups online and offline. As well as actually moderating your group,  I can design a discussion guide that ensures all topic areas are covered and that finds ways of drawing the richest possible information out of participants. Perhaps that might also mean designing some stimulus materials for you. In addition, I can help you decide who to include in your group and how best to recruit them.
